There is no question that our society continues to grow with an ever-increasing desire to live in the lap of luxury. It has invaded our lives and is evident in the cars we drive, the homes we live in and the clothes we wear.
Kitchens and bathroom design & décor is no exception. The industry has stepped up and provided new styles and colors, new features and options to meet the demand. Clearly it is the consumer and his/her demand that is the pull. In our community too, everyone wants to keep up with “the Jones’/Goldbergs.”
Customers inquire about the latest color trends, as yesterday’s colors are passe’. Customers are hiring decorators and designers to help choose every aspect of their kitchen or bathroom. For Kosher kitchens of yesteryear, a double sink & one oven was acceptable, today everyone wants 2 completely separate kitchens.
In meeting these demands I have expanded to almost 100 different color & style cabinet choices. Provide 6 uniquely different countertop materials, in 50+ colors. I endeavor to add an island into your kitchen design, if possible. Integrating trash & spice pull outs, in your cabinets, is almost universal. Lighting is no longer just a bulb on the ceiling. Today’s lighting must provide the right mood lighting, undercabinet, task lighting and make a statement to boot! Accessorizing your kitchen with right handles & knobs is as important as picking the jewelry & earrings you’ll wear for today’s outfit!
Today’s lifestyle has expanded from indoors to outdoors. We have also begun to plan and provide outdoor kitchens & lighting.
The Star K organization has contributed a major upgrade to the appliance world with their “Sabbath Mode” certification program. Most major appliance manufacturers now offer models with this feature. to enhance your Shabbos enjoyment and adherence. Please realize that this requires the latest computerized appliances, that usually you will need to initiate every Friday.
Choosing the right floor should not be an afterthought. Color and style are very important to complete the “look.” But choosing the right material; wood, tile, LVT etc. (don’t forget the underlayment) for your floor is critical to many years of carefree living and enjoyment, of your kitchen.
Everything I’ve said about kitchens is doubly true for your bathroom makeover. Colors, materials, bath & shower options are in the thousands, when you add all the accessory possibilities. Walkin showers, shower doors, tiles and tubs of every shape & size are just the 1st step. Take into consideration the age of the users, both young and old, as key factors in your design, choice of materials & fixtures.
So be discriminate and expect to pay much more than you initially budgeted for.
